Random Act of Kindness

Tonight I was the victim of a random act of kindness. It really was completely random - no point at all to it, just someone being very nice!

I was on my way driving to San Diego for work, and decided to stop for dinner in Yuma. I was craving breadsticks and alfredo sauce, and since there really aren't many nice places to eat in Yuma, Olive Garden it was!

When I finished the delightful meal, my waitress brought me my Andes mints (the best part!) and said that I didn't need to pay, someone had already picked up my check! I asked her about it, and whoever it was had already left. It wasn't some guy trying to pick up on me, and she wouldn't say anything about who it really was. Someone had just seen that I was eating dinner all by myself and decided to pay for my meal for me. And that was that. I was completely blown away! They didn't want anything in return, they didn't try to talk to me or do anything. And I was dressed in business apparel, so I didn't look like a homeless girl trying to bum a meal. They just wanted to do something nice. It felt really great for me, so I hope they feel good as well.

And since I didn't have the opportunity to thank them for that wonderful bit of generosity, I'm going to try to find a way to pass it on to someone else this week. I don't know what I'll do exactly, but it feels right to give the gift to someone else now. Someone proved to me today that there still are great people out there who don't need a reason to help others. And I want to do that for someone else.

There are many reasons I love my husband...

One of them is the fact that he can be a total "manly man" most of the time (sports, cars, body noises), but he's not afraid to do girly stuff with me, like watching chick flicks or getting a pedicure (don't tell him I said that online!) Yesterday he even helped me color my hair! He told me he had done this plenty of times and that he was practically a professional, although afterwards he changed his story a bit ("No, I said my mom made me help her with it, and I've never done long hair before!") Anyway, here are some pictures from our little adventure!

Here's my sexy stylist prepping my hair!

The artist is very meticulous with his work

Putting on the finishing touches!

And now the waiting game...I got a little messy...not my fault, I promise!

This is my "I'm really frustrated because I think I just dyed my hair way to dark" look

But in the end, it looks just fine!

Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was our 1 year anniversary! I can't believe it! It definitely doesn't seem like it has been a year already, but it really was a good year. There were ups and downs, for sure, but overall, I wouldnt' be anywhere else.

Even though we're a little low on cash right now (like every other newlywed couple...wait, can I still say newlywed?!?!?), Anthony saved up to take me to my absolute favorite restaurant: Mortons!

They were absolutely wonderful with everything for our special occasion. They prepared special menus just for our anniversary! We ordered the special: I had a petite filet and shrimp alexander (sooooo good!) and Anthony had a full filet and crab cakes and then we shared the steamed asparagus and mashed potatos. And if we weren't full with that, they gave us TWO hot chocolate cakes (my favorite thing in the whole world!) for desert!

And they took a picture and gave it to us in a special little frame!

Every single waitress or waiter or anybody working in the restaurant knew that it was our anniversary, so everyone kept coming by to congratulate us. It was just amazing, and proved to me how much I really love this place!
